About
Laura Morrissette
I am a warm, compassionate therapist with a focus on modalities that get to the root of issues and facilitate more peace, ease, self-love, and empowerment. I have over 20 years of experience.
I believe in the incredible and unlimited capacity we each have to heal and to experience higher levels of emotional well-being, confidence, love, and compassion. These core beliefs have led me to highly effective healing modalities and practices, which I offer in my therapy work with great joy and gratitude.
25 years ago I began searching for holistic practices that could gently and effectively heal trauma and stuck patterns. I studied the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Matrix Reimprinting, and the Emotion Code. While all of these methods are very powerful in their own right, I have found Tapas Acupressure Technique (TAT) and flower essences to be the gentlest and most effective modalities for helping to resolve trauma, deep-seated emotions, and stuck patterns.
During a stressful period in my life I was having trouble sleeping and tried different therapies including acupuncture, talk therapy, and energy healing to address sleep issues. My sleep was stabilized after two TAT sessions and the emotional upset was resolved in five sessions. Thrilled with these results, I decided to complete extensive training in Tapas Acupressure Technique and became certified in the technique. I now facilitate TAT sessions with my clients every week. I marvel at the gentleness and beauty of the process. I watch people enter therapy sessions with high levels of emotional distress and leave sessions feeling peaceful, calm, and inspired.
As a trained meditation teacher I support individuals in establishing a personal mindfulness practice by facilitating short guided meditations in session, offering suggestions and guidance regarding home practice, and allow space to reflect on issues that arise about meditation practice.
My training in a form of compassionate communication called Nonviolent Communication (NVC) greatly informs my work. NVC teaches us to break the code of miscommunication and to understand the feelings and deeper needs that are present but often difficult to decipher in a conversation. This form of compassionate communication gives people clear tools to accurately express oneself during conflicts and important conversations.
My bachelor’s degree is in Asian Studies from the University of Hawaii. I lived in China, Cambodia, and Thailand for a year and have done several language immersions in Guatemala. I have traveled extensively and work with people of diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds. I have a high working proficiency level of Spanish and a working proficiency level of French and Khmer (Cambodian).
